If you want to make your tour an adventurous one, hiking and trekking to the caves is highly recommended. But we can also reach there by a car. Along with the wildlife value of Sanjay Gandhi National Park and the historic value of the caves, they are also a prime pilgrimage center of Buddhism. The name, Kanheri is derived from Sanskrit word Krishnagiri, which literally means black mountain. The caves were rock-cut, carefully chiseled by a huge basalt rock. There is a large hall in the center of the caves which has a Stupa.

Climb up the hill to see the next attraction of the area – some remains of a water canal and cisterns that were used to collect the rainwater. Trekking to the mountains is a popular activity here, and people largely visit this place for this very purpose.

Spend some time amongst the wildlife of Sanjay Gandhi National Park. There is a lot to explore in the area, and exploring the craftsmanship at its best in form of these rock-cut caves is something that should not be missed. You will be surprised to see that thousands of years back, when there were no sophisticated tools for construction, people were genius to create such a masterpiece. And if you are a Buddhism follower, the caves have much more to offer you.

The importance of Taj Mahal on tourism map of India can be understood from a single fact that more than 60 percent of tourists coming to India visit Taj Mahal. Be there and you will surely understand why it is called the “Symbol of Love” and is counted amongst the Seven Wonders of the World.

Located in close proximity to Taj Mahal is Agra Fort, a mammoth fort constructed by Mughal Emperor Akbar. Visit to this fort is a must for those who want to pay attention to the rich history and culture of the Mughal Dynasty. Today, it has been converted into a museum that houses innumerable belongings of the erstwhile kingdom.

The mausoleum was built by Noor Jahan, wife of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, to honor his father Mirza Ghiyas Bagh who was given the title of Itmad-Ud-Daula (Pillar of the State). Due to being a smaller replica of the Taj Mahal, this monument is also known as Baby Taj and is highly frequented by history lovers.

This small town is located 32km from Agra and was established in 1569 by Mughal Emperor Akbar. The town served as the capital of Mughal Dynasty before a severe draught hit it. Today, you can find the remains of the mesmerizing monuments created during those days.

Also known as the Sikandara Tomb, the mausoleum is built by and dedicated to Mughal Emperor Akbar. Covering a massive area of 119 acres, the tomb is a fine piece of supreme architecture. Nearby located is the tomb of Miriam, wife of Emperor Akbar.

This fort is the place where Akbar spent last days of his life. Located 13km from Agra, the Sikandara Fort is surrounded by lush green gardens and thus also a good picnic spot. Akbar was a fond of art, and this fort clearly depicts his interest. Agra Day Tour.
